Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and raised in Barcelona. Her eclectic musical style has earned her the status of "atypical pop star". In the wake of being fascinated by Spanish folk music at the age of thirteen, she studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while playing at music bars and weddings.She finished her studies with distinction, thanks to the cover album she recorded with Raul Refree in Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). The project reinvented flamenco and mingled it with pop and hip-hop music. The singles "Malamente", and "Pienso in tu Mira" were popular among the Spanish public , and were met with the acclaim of all critics. Her third album, Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a unique style, straying slightly from the original flamenco sound. The album caught international attention due to its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and became the album that received the highest rating this year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had a record of ten top-ten singles throughout her career in her country of birth. This is the most for an artist from that region. Rosalia has been awarded 11 Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards, and two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing today's mainstream music sound with her flamenco-influenced pop"[18The award was presented to her in 18. She was also the first Latino-singing artist to be nominated by the Grammys for Best New Artist.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born in a family with no artistic heritage and is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who has a family-owned business specialised in metalworks. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They split in 2019. [23] Her older sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative brain. Rosalia expressed interest in the performing arts from an early age, particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her music education. She completed a six-year course at the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia.
