Despacito was a track from the year 2017 that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top streamed track in the world within six months. It was a blend of pop and reggaeton which not only brought attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish generally, and four songs in the year the year 2016. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. Soon after, pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma for the release of Medellin. A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards mainstream music in the year 2020. But a new band, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the development and growth of reggaeton. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music and other genres.
